「NIKKEI Japan Report」を9日から「Ustream」で配信開始

~日本の経済情報を英語で国際発信~

株式会社日本経済新聞社(代表取締役社長:喜多恒雄)とUstream Asia株式会社(代表取締役社長:中川具隆)は日経制作の英語経済番組「NIKKEI Japan Report」を8月9日(日本時間)から、ライブ映像配信サービス「Ustream(ユーストリーム)」を通じて配信します。ソーシャルメディアの米ツイッター、フェイスブックを活用して視聴者の声を反映した番組作りをめざします。インターネットで動画視聴する環境が整ってきたことに対応し、ユーストリームを新たなプラットフォームとして活用します。日経はNIKKEI Japan Reportを手始めにユーストリームでの動画配信を増やし、日本情報の対外発信を強化します。

NIKKEI Japan Reportは日経がグループ会社の日経CNBC、日経映像と協力して英語で制作、日本企業の高い技術力など日本の底力を特集したコーナーや日本企業トップとのインタビューを通じて、日本のありのままの姿を世界に発信する国際番組です。ユーストリームでは米国、欧州、アジアの時間帯に合わせて複数回配信する予定です。

現在はNHK子会社の日本国際放送(jibtv)のグローバルネットワークと米NBCユニバーサル傘下の経済専門チャンネル、CNBCアジア・パシフィックを通じて世界各国で放送しています。これにユーストリームでの配信が加わることで、世界の視聴者層が一段と広がることになります。今後は番組の制作本数や放送回数を増やすほか、有料での配信を検討します。

「NIKKEI Japan Report」(
日本経済新聞社が制作し、世界に向けて発信する経済報道番組です。「日本経済の現在の姿と未来への可能性」を取材し、英語放送でお伝えします。日本国際放送(jibtv)、CNBCアジア、日経CNBC、BSジャパンを通じて、欧米、アジア、オセアニア、中東、日本など世界各地域に放送しています。番組は通常、日本経済の最新トレンドをリポートする「Today's Pick」、日本の経営者らキーパーソンにインタビューする「Newsmaker」、日本独特の文化などを紹介する「兆し Kizashi ~On the Horizon~」の3コーナーで構成されます。

Ustream to distribute "NIKKEI Japan Report" from August 9, 2011

Bringing the English-language program on the Japanese economy to the world

Nikkei Inc. (President & CEO: Tsuneo Kita) and Ustream Asia Inc. (CEO: Tomotaka Nakagawa) are pleased to announce that "NIKKEI Japan Report," an English-language program on the Japanese economy created by Nikkei Inc., will start being distributed via Ustream, a live video-streaming service, from August 9, 2011 (JST). This move will enable the program to better reflect the views of the audience by taking advantage of social media such as Twitter and Facebook. Nikkei aims to provide more information about Japan to the world by distributing more video content via Ustream, beginning with NIKKEI Japan Report.

NIKKEI Japan Report is produced by Nikkei Inc. in collaboration with such group companies as NIKKEI CNBC and NIKKEI VISUAL IMAGES Inc. It is a globally broadcast English-language economic news program that focuses on the underlying strengths of the Japanese economy by introducing companies that possess world-class technologies, and by featuring interviews with Japanese corporate leaders. Ustream will distribute each episode several times to cover the various time zones in the U.S., Europe and Asia.

Currently, the program is carried globally by Japan International Broadcasting Inc. (jibtv), a subsidiary of NHK, and by CNBC Asia Pacific, an economy-focused channel under NBC Universal in the U.S. Adding Ustream is expected to increase the global viewership. The number of programs and broadcasts will increase, and fee-based distribution is being considered for the future.
